太空探索的好处是有利于人类的长期生存发展，太空探索推动了人类的科学技术，在天气预报、计算机、医学等领域的技术每一次更新换代都与太空探索有密切的关系，大大造福了人类。坏处是进行太空探索需要消耗大量的人力和物质资源，并且在太空产生许多太空垃圾。
